Dear District 204 Community,

I wanted to take a moment during this busy time of year to express my gratitude to the many community members and organizations who took the time to help our students this holiday season. With many of our parents feeling the impact of the challenging economy, more families than ever expressed concerns this year about not being able to provide a holiday gift for their children. Many people answered our call to help. I'm happy to tell you that due to their generosity, more than 1,300 children in our district will receive gifts.

We are especially appreciative of the support we received from our community partners -- the Naperville Jaycees, Rotary Club of Naperville, Rotary Club of Naperville - South, Fry Family YMCA, KidsMatter, Junior League, Alden of Waterford, and Wheatland Salem Church. The generous spirit of our involved community is evident, and it's one of the things that makes our district great.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming break and the extra time available to spend with your children. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on January 9.

Kathy Birkett
Superintendent
