Fifty-one student musicians from District 204's high schools performed recently at the Illinois Music Educators Association's All-State Music Festival. This placed District 204 at the top of school districts statewide sending participants to the ILMA Conference. Special recognition went to Katie Merrick and Noah Wagner from Metea Valley High School and Faith Tsou from Neuqua Valley High School on being selected for the ILMEA Future Music Educators Symposium. In addition, Waubonsie Valley High School students Joshua Iyer and Michael Baker received recognition in the Composition Contest. Baker's composition "Lugeo for Solo Trombone and Orchestra" captured first place in the Large Instrumental Ensemble category. Iyer's "Birds of Prey" composition placed third in the same category. The Composition Contest was expanded this year to include middle school students, and Crone Middle School’s Christopher Coster was awarded second place for a piano solo composition titled "Dream Set." Ten District 204 staff members also participated as clinicians for the All-State Professional Development Program and Neuqua Valley High School Principal Dr. Bob McBride received the Outstanding Administrator Award.
