District 204 recently changed its residency verification procedures. Proof of residency is now required for all students before entering grades kindergarten, 3, 6, 7, 9, and 11. Previously, proof of residency was required for students entering grades kindergarten, 6 and 9.
Checking residency at additional grades is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 204 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
If you have a child entering kindergarten or grades 3, 6, 7, 9 or 11 next year, your school will be sending you specific instructions next week with details of what documents meet the residency requirements. Proof of residency documents will need to be turned in before April 15, 2015. All information provided is confidential and account numbers, social security, and financial information should be marked out for privacy.
If you have questions regarding the information requested, please contact your building principal. If your family has moved or is planning a move prior the start of the 2015-16 school year, please notify the office staff at the school your child currently attends.
