At the November 27, 2017 Board of Education meeting, administrators recommended attendance area adjustments to ease overcrowding at Peterson, Brookdale, and Brooks elementary schools. The proposal calls for approximately 215 students who attend these schools to be reassigned. Subdivisions in these attendance areas that are under construction would also be assigned new elementary schools.
If approved, the elementary school adjustments would begin with the 2018-19 school year. Fifth graders in 2018-19 will have the option to stay at their current school.
There will be no changes to middle or high school assignments for current students.
Board of Education members are reviewing the proposed adjustments and are expected to vote on the recommendation at the December 11, 2017 meeting. If approved, school officials will further communicate with their communities to make the transition as seamless as possible.
Questions and comments on the proposal can be sent to 204-enews@ipsd.org.
