Volunteer of the Month: January

The BMO Harris Bank District 204 Volunteer of the Month is being awarded to Sherri Nugent from Nancy Young Elementary School.

Sherri is the co-president of Young’s PTA and has served on the board for the past eleven years in various capacities. She has played a significant role in starting the Book Exchange at Young and has helped keep programs afloat that would not be possible without volunteers, such as the One Book/One School Program. Her nomination states that she is always willing to lend a hand and share her extensive knowledge of the PTA and volunteer process.

Principal Adrienne Morgan has appreciated the support that Sherri provides to the programs at Young and says, “She always has a smile on her face. She is friendly and approachable to Young students, parents and families. She values the importance of providing student and family activities for the Young community.”

While Sherri thinks of volunteering as her hobby, she enjoys being a larger part of her kids’ school day. The staff and teachers at the school always make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated and the Young PTA volunteers are like family to her.

BMO Harris Bank is helping District 204 recognize one volunteer each month who has generously given his or her time to support District 204's students and schools.
