District 204's planetarium welcomes 12,000 visitors each year. Housed at Waubonsie Valley High School, the facility provides astronomy programs to classes visiting from across the district. The planetarium also opens its doors to the community through scout programs and a monthly Family Night program.
Planetarium Director Stephanie Rybka said a visit to the planetarium is a unique experience. Her favorite part is showing visitors what the sky looks like without light pollution created from millions of streetlights in the Chicago area that dilute the magnificence of the night sky.
