The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation and District 204 honored Victor Low, a math teacher at Scullen Middle School, with the A+ Award.

In her nomination, parent Colleen Keen shared how Low has impacted her children. Three of her daughters have had Low as a teacher. "Mr. Low taught my first daughter as a math teacher. She was always talking about this teacher who had crazy energy, joked around but was tough on homework and tests." Keen went on to share how Low has gone above and beyond, always willing to help students with projects, but also taking the time to share observations with parents. "During conferences each year, Mr. Low compares my kids to one another, telling me how each of them learns. I can’t help but think he knows them better than I do."
Low originally studied computer engineering in college, but made the switch to education when he realized positively impacting students was his calling. He has been teaching for 13 years, all at Scullen Middle School.
When asked why he chose teaching, Low had a list of reasons why he enjoys what he does. "You think about the highs and lows, but in the end it's the process. It's working with the great people at Scullen as well as seeing the students that care. And the chance to focus on the right things, knowing every moment is a teachable moment."
Wells Fargo Advisors are partnering with IPEF and District 204 to help recognize one staff member each month for making a difference for students. To celebrate these outstanding staff members, Wells Fargo Advisors is donating $500 for the staff member to use in his or her school.
