The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation and District 204 honored Edgar Stewart, a crossing guard and lunchroom supervisor at McCarty Elementary, with the A+ Award.

Parent Jeannie Brooks quoted author Mandy Hale in her nomination of Stewart, sharing, “There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.” She said that’s exactly what Stewart does each and every day for the McCarty community. Stewart received multiple nominations, with parents and staff echoing stories of how he goes out of his way to make everyone feel special and cared for.
Stewart is in his second year of working at McCarty. He is a retired construction worker who calls this job "a blessing."
Wells Fargo Advisors are partnering with IPEF and District 204 to help recognize one staff member each month for making a difference for students. To celebrate these outstanding staff members, Wells Fargo Advisors is donating $500 for the staff member to use in his or her school.
