U.S. News & World Report recently released its 2016 Best High Schools ranking, which features comprehensive profiles of more than 21,000 public high schools and ranks the nation's highest-scoring schools. U.S. News ranked Neuqua Valley 896 in the nation and 34 in Illinois, Metea Valley was ranked 1,040 in the nation and 42 in the state, and Waubonsie Valley was ranked 1,427 in the nation and 59 in Illinois. Rankings are based on state assessments, graduation rates and how well schools prepare students for college.

The Washington Post also announced all three District 204 high schools made its ranking of America's Most Challenging High Schools, which is based on Advanced Placement test data. This year, just more than 10 percent of the approximately 22,000 U.S. public high schools managed to earn a place on the list. Metea Valley ranked 878, Neuqua Valley ranked 1,176 and Waubonsie Valley ranked 1,204.
